RW-800 Vial Washer

The RW-800 is a medium speed automatic vial washer for pharmaceutical and biotech applications with an output of up to 200 vials/min (2ml). The RW-800 is a compact machine with a footprint of 90x130cm (36”x51”). Vial range 2-250ml (change parts requires). Options include: Recycling of WFI, intermittent spraying and automatic lid lift mechanism. Changeover time: 20min. With recycled WFI and intermittent spraying, the WFI consumption is 4-8 liter/min, dependent on the vial format.

Features and Benefits:

Frame

- constructed of 2" tubular AISI-304 stainless steel with height adjustable feet
- table top cover and removable side covers are constructed of AISI-304 stainless steel with a #4 finish

Contact Parts

Contact parts are constructed of AISI-316L stainless steel. Contact parts include the washing chamber, central turret, spray pipes, vial carriers, outfeed deadplate, and all process piping.

Electrical

The PennTech rotary vial washer model RW-800 will be controlled by an Allen Bradley Micrologix 1100 PLC, capable of providing full control and monitoring of the machine.

The machine includes a user-friendly Allen-Bradley PanelView 600+ operator interface. A menu guides the operator through the operations of the machine. Fault conditions are displayed, should they occur, informing the operator of the status of the machine.

Piping System

All pipes in contact with WFI and sterile air are constructed of 316L stainless steel; their internal surfaces are electro polished. Orbital welding is applied whenever possible. Silicone seals are used throughout the piping system.

Infeed

Vials are placed onto the loading platform and pushed onto the rotating table. The rotational speed of the table is automatically adjusted to accommodate the vial format. In case of a fallen vial, downed vial blocks prohibit it from entering the infeed area. Unstable vials (e.g. 3ml vials) when fallen are automatically removed from the infeed area. Vials are fed to the vial carriers by way of an infeed drive belt.

Self-draining Piping System

All water pipes and manifolds are pitched 10mm per meter to prevent water stagnation after shutdown. No dead-legs are present in the entire piping system. The entire piping system is designed to run from high to low, hence preventing water stagnation. At the completion of the washing batch, the valves are opened under PLC control to drain the entire system

Outfeed

Vials leave the washer in a single-file fashion. This allows for easy loading of trayloaders and sterilization tunnels. The stepper-motor operated outfeed-pusher mechanism is specifically positioned and controlled, via PLC, for each vial format. This prevents unstable vials from falling over when leaving the vial washer.

Transparent Cover

The one-piece transparent polycarbonate cover permits visual verification of the flow of every nozzle. Safety provisions are in place to prevent water spraying when the cover is not located over the washing chamber.
